Pastor’s Letter – May 5, 2020 – Real Talk with Jesus

There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat.

Matthew 26:7

Dear Church and Friends,

We get so upset over the smallest things. As the old fella said, we turn mole hills into mountains. That’s exactly what happens in Matthew 26 at Simon the Leper’s house. Imagine the scene, Jesus, the disciples, Simon’s family, Lazarus’ family, other friends from Bethany and Jerusalem are all gathered around the table for a meal.

Then, in walks a lady with a container of ointment and breaks it over the head of Christ. That put a stop to all conversation! The disciples immediately began to calculate just how much was wasted and the approximate cost. How gracious of them!

Is anything wasted when it is given to Christ? Apparently the disciples thought so. Jesus immediately rebukes them. He stands between them and the lady and calls out their greed. Then he says of the lady that she, not them, will have this told as a memorial of her.

Be careful where you place your affections. Give everything to Jesus. Nothing given to Him will be wasted. Everything given to Him will honor His great name.

Prayer Request: Please pray for the people of the Upper Plains of Karnataka, India

  • (car-NAH-tuh-kuh) – The lockdown of the entire country of India due to the coronavirus has impacted many of the poorer people in the country. Not only are they more at risk of developing the disease because of their tight, compact living conditions, but they also are suffering and will continue to suffer from no work and an inability to feed themselves and their families as long as the lockdown continues. The hopelessness is written on their faces and heard in their voices, as so many of them do not have a relationship with Christ and have never even heard of Him. Please pray that these people will encounter believing family members or friends who can share truth, and ask that they will come to understand and desire a relationship with the One who can give them life and hope.

Question 113: How shall the dead appear before the judgment seat of Christ?

Answer: The bodies which they had in their life time shall by the almighty power of God be restored again, and quickened with their souls and so there shall be a general resurrection from the dead.

“Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen.”

All my best.

Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her.

Matthew 26:13
