Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among usLuke 1:1
Dear Church and Friends,
Recently I was musing on the state of the church at-large. This was prompted by a shocking comment made by a pastor. “Why is it,” I wondered, “that Christian fathers and mothers are so ignorant of the Bible? What will happen to the next generation if this level of ignorance continues?”
Luke gives his friend, the most excellent Theophilus, an aid to ground him in what he was taught. That aid was the gospel he wrote. How was Theophilus to engage the truth of Luke’s gospel? He was to read it.
It would not produce the result that Luke intended if it sat quietly on the shelf. The Gospel writer added his voice to the voice of the other witnesses to tell the wonderful story of Jesus. But if the words are not heard in the heart, in the home, or in the church they will not have the desired effect.
We must not think that we can go without regular reading of God’s word. That one single simple practice is so important for Christian health and growth. Whatever you are doing today take five minutes and read a passage from any portion of God’s word. Do it again tomorrow and begin to build a habit of regular reading. You will find that the Holy Spirit will make certain those things you have believed and learned.

Prayer Request: Please remember the following.
- Pray for the Paul family as they prepare for the funeral of Hannah’s mom, Stella Edward.
- Sunil Prasad, Cincinnati, Ohio. “We are praying for more families to join Relationships Indian Community Church. We currently have seven to 10 families, and we are asking God for about 15 more families to join us this year. By the grace of God, we have had 42 conversions in two years. We are asking God for 100 in 2020. Please pray for my wife as she works full time and for me as a bivocational pastor. Also please pray for our 8-year-old son. We pray that God will bring us out of this coronavirus pandemic and give us a new vigor and zeal for lost people.”
