Pastor’s Letter – August 4, 2020 – Are You Full?

And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,

Luke 4:1

Dear Church and Friends,

Fasting is hard, that’s just all there is to it. I get hungry after two hours. All the food commercials on TV don’t help that either. But Jesus went forty days without eating. Luke gives us a clue about how that happened and it implies something wonderful for us as well, (as always).

When Jesus left the Jordan after being baptized by John it says, “being full of the Holy Ghost.” A person that is full isn’t hungry. This filling lasted him the entire time he was in the wilderness. It can last us the entire time we are in this wilderness.

Sometimes our desires get out of control and satisfaction cannot be found. We look to the swill of the wilderness to satisfy us. However, there is a remedy. We can go daily, as often as we like to the fountain of living water and fill up. Prayer, meditation, Bible reading and study, worship, and godly conversations can provide us with the fullness of His presence.

This filling is important because the wilderness is a dangerous place. It is full too. Full of the devil and his temptations. Jesus, because he was full of the Spirit, was lead by the Spirit into the wilderness. The only way we will be able to navigate the wilderness is by the leading of the Holy Ghost.

Look to Him today for your satisfaction and filling. Let Him lead you, because whether you want to or not the wilderness awaits.
