“. . . but the Lord thundered with a great thunder on that day.”
1 Samuel 7:10
Dear Church and Friends,
This past Sunday, June 27, 2021, I preached from 1 Samuel 7:1-6 but I excluded the end of the story. The first six verses of that chapter are all about the children of Israel seeking the Lord. But something exciting happens in 1 Samuel 7:7-11 that I want to address today as an encouragement to prayer. Enjoy today’s meditation.
Meditation: 1 Samuel 7:7-11
Walking With God by William Cowper
Oh! For a closer walk with God, A calm and heav’nly frame; A light to shine upon the road That leads me to the Lamb!
Where is the blessedness I knew When I first saw the LORD? Where is the soul-refreshing view Of JESUS, and his word?
What peaceful hours I once enjoy’d How sweet their mem’ry still! But they have left an arching void, The world can never fill.
The dearest idol I have known, Whate’er that idol be; Help me to tear it from thy throne, And worship only thee.
So shall my walk be close with GOD, Calm and serene my frame; So purer light shall mark the road That leads me to the Lamb.
