The Pastor’s Letter – August 3, 2021 – When God Thundered (Again)

So Samuel called unto the Lord; and the Lord sent thunder and rain that day: and all the people greatly feared the Lord and Samuel.

1 Samuel 12:18

Dear Church and Friends,

In 1 Samuel 7:7-11 The Lord thundered on the Philistines and delivered the people of Israel in a great display of his care for them. Then, He did it again. 1 Samuel 12:17-19, Samuel calls on the Lord to thundered and rain on the wheat harvest.

This was not a thundering on Israel’s enemies, it was a thundering on Israel because of their sins. When the people saw what the Lord did they immediately repented of their sins and rebellion (they had ask for a king). Watch the video for my devotion on this passage.

Prayer Request: Please pray for Larry and Tammy Brant, our NAMB missionaries in San Diego, Calif.

  • Larry Brant is a Navy Chaplain serving the Navy Medical Readiness and Training Command in San Diego, Calif. “Please pray for me as I finish my last unit of clinical pastoral education (CPE) and prepare for my next duty as the Command Chaplain for Naval Hospital Twentynine Palms, Calif., in October. I am currently finishing my chaplain residency at a VA post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) domiciliary called the ASPIRE Center where I minister with another chaplain to homeless veterans suffering with PTSD. Many also have substance abuse issues. The fields are truly white unto harvest! My wife, Tammy, has also gone back to school for a certification in phlebotomy and hopes to find a job in the area when we move. We will also be finishing our time helping with the Pillar Church San Diego church plant. Please pray for us as we complete the work God gave us to do in San Diego and prepare for the new work in Twentynine Palms. God bless you for your prayers!”

Craig’s Catechism: How the Church is to be Known

  • Question 328: What admonitions are we given here? Answer: That we should dedicate our bodies to the service of God.
  • Question 329: But the wicked will be partakers of the same resurrection? Answer: No doubt, but to their great confusion.
  • Question 330: Many doubt of this resurrection. Answer: But we are sure that He who fulfilled the first promises can and will perform the rest.

All my best,

And all the people said unto Samuel, Pray for thy servants unto the Lord thy God, that we die not: for we have added unto all our sins this evil, to ask us a king.

1 Samuel 12:19
