Sunday Morning Worship – November 8, 2021 – The Gospel and the Soothsayer

And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:

Acts 16:16

Dear Church and Friends,

In chapter 16 we find two women in very different circumstances, Lydia, “whose heart the Lord opened,” and an unnamed damsel who was possessed with a spirit of divination. Lydia was a businesswoman, the damsel was a slave. Both of these women encountered the gospel and were delivered, but the damsel gives us a unique glimpse into a more subtle challenge to the gospel.

All my best,
