Haditha’s Blessing

He maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children. Praise ye the Lord.

Psalm 113:9

(This story was used to supplement the teaching of Psalm 113.)

Haditha was born with a horrible physical disability. She found herself attracted by the stories of Jesus healing the lame people in the New Testament. Haditha identified with them. The doctors told her, over the course of her life, that she would never bear children. Her family told her that she would never marry, that she was ugly and awkward, and would be looked over by potential suitors.

However, Haditha grew into a beauty despite her handicap and fell in love with her childhood friend, Randy. They eventually married and moved away from Haditha’s family. Randy found work as a city planner in the major metropolis of their state. Three years after their move Haditha conceived and bore twins. Over the next seven years, she and Randy welcomed three more children to their family.

Despite the “experts” in her family and the doctors who made her suffer many things, she found herself a wife, a mother, and a very influential member of her city.

What happened? (Please consider Psalm 113)

Why did it happen?

What should be the response of Haditha, and others?
